| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Canon has poured all the Know How of its extraordinary history of developing innovative office machines into each of its copiers, printers, and networked office systems. The same superiority of design and manufacture goes into all of the Canon-branded consumable imaging supplies and parts for this equipment. Naturally, no one makes better parts and supplies for Canon products than Canon. Using genuine Canon parts and supplies is your best insurance against equipment damage, and possibly voiding your equipment warranty.

Magenta/Photo Magenta Canon and Amazon fumble the ball again January 21, 2010 Roger Schaaf (Silicon Valley Calif) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Exactly the same happened to me on our IP 5200 R. I went to install a Magenta in my canon, got a message that I had a problem, investigated and finally discovered the problem after comparing removed cartridge from the one that I had just installed. So I am really cursing these idiots at Canon, but I say, OK I've another that I had just purchased. I grab it from its packaging and find that it too is a PM and not a M.
I have had nothing but frustration with my Canon printer over the years and this now takes the cake. Who are the Engineers and Marketing types who design, package and market this crap. I suppose because they deal with millions of these lousy printers and their inks, they assume that everyone else has the same knowledge. Of course the consumer likely sees just a couple of Magenta replacement cartridges a year, it would never occur to these fools to CLEARLY mark the differences for us rookies with older eyes. You would think with the millions (billions?) of dollars that they earn each year selling 3 cents worth of ink for 15 bucks that they could at least design packaging to help the customer from screwing themselves.
Another time, I bought a multi-package of Canon ink for this same printer. It was only after I opened it, I found that it was the wrong type. It as a 6 and not an 8. The clerk at the store where I purchased it told me that this is what I needed for my printer and she sells the stuff.
So now I'm out the money also and here I sit tonight with the inability to print, and here I was with a backup cartridge and it too is wrong.
Thanks Canon for nothing. Another company that spends millions in advertising to catch an elusive customer, gets to the 1 yard line with goal to go, and fumbles the ball.
Don't even get me started on the cartridges for this printer that were defective right from the box.
A Sure Shot for my Canon January 15, 2010 Spudman (Pasadena, MD United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I use this size cartridge for my Canon Pixma MP 970 which uses 6 cartridges. I only buy Canon ink for this printer because I don't think it's worth the small savings to compromise quality for generic cartridges.
In the past I've used generic twice, once for a Canon and once for an HP printer. Both experiences were unsatisfactory.
This ink tank is a breeze to install. On my printer the low ink tanks have blinking lights above them for easy identification. Just press a release tab to remove the empty tank and snap in the new one. It couldn't be easier.
On most printers, including my present one, a low ink tank warning appears on screen each time a printing task begins. I'm never in a hurry to switch out low ink tanks. Often a low ink tank will last a full month or more before it finally goes empty. I always have spare tanks on hand so I can immediately replace empty tanks.
Prices for inks are very good on Amazon. Their prices are just as good as those I've found at BJ's or Office Depot, and shipping is free for orders over 25 dollars.
Be aware that ink tanks have expiration dates, so one can't stock up too much on extra ink tanks.
Good product, but.... May 13, 2009 R. ADRAGNA (NY, United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Printing a lot less color prints, because of price. Never thought I'd try generic ink, but taking a chance.
