Product Description This feature-packed tripod provides the ultimate in remote camcorder operation. You can adjust your zoom speed with a simple tilt of a lever and use the Guide Frame feature to help align and frame your shots. The oil fluid head provides the smoothest pans and tilts possible. Adjusts from 24 3/4" to 65 3/4".

Very pleased! March 3, 2010 Robert P. Manwaring (Anchorage, AK United States) I've been looking for a video tripod with a fluid head that was also reasonably priced. I wasn't having much luck with that! After purchasing a new Sony camcorder and reviewing accessories, I noticed this tripod. I was apprehensive as there were some remarks about the head not being very fluid. I received the tripod today and opened up the package right away to check it and I'm VERY pleased with the movement in all directions. I've finally found the tripod I've been looking for. The remote control handle is just icing on the cake! I highly recommend this tripod!
sony VCT-80AV remote control tripod review February 10, 2010 Laurence B. Budd (Fort collins, colorado) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This tripod has some nice features, but is shaky. It is very lightweight, which is great when one is carrying it. The mounting plate is plastic, and my sony handycam wobbles a bit. The handle with the remote record on/off, camera on/off and variable zoom is great. The slow zoom works very well, nice and smooth. The camera can be mounted on the tripod with the handle to the front, making it easy to start/stop and zoom when you are alone. The tilt and pan functions claim to be fluid filled, I can't tell that they are. Both are poor in the mid range, sort of either stiff or loose. Overall, For the price, the remote feature is very nice. But it is not a stable tripod.
Light, stable, easy to use, perfect for Sony prosumer cameras December 21, 2009 Pablo Castro (Bogotá, Colombia) I have a Sony Z5 camera, so I know I should've bought the 300 dollar version of this tripod, which is probably more sturdy and durable. THERE ARE MANY SONY TRIPOD MODELS, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK ALL OF THEM OUT BEFORE YOU PICK ONE. Sometimes it's not very clear what the differences are, though...
Since I could only afford this one, I have to admit it's pretty awesome considering the price. We all know a decent pro tripod costs at least 300 bucks, but this one does a lot of stuff for a third of that. Bubble level, very smooth panning and tilting, relatively tight and stable, remote control zooming, recording and photo taking on the handle... but to be lightweight and inexpensive, it had to sacrifice something: this one has some parts made in cheap plastic, like the hand crank to raise the height and the locking plate. Treat these with care and don't leave them in direct sunlight, and it'll probably last a few years. Definitely not the last tripod you'll every buy, but does the job.
good video now great video November 12, 2009 Keith Klbecka (chicago,il usa) Nice movement control, used mostly to film sporting events for the kids.A touch pricey ( $ 20.00 less? ) would be fine but well made,no bs.Nice case delivered on time. Thats what happens when you spend a little more....youre usually satisfied
sony vct-80av tripod November 11, 2009 Armin D. Tuma Great product, my video has improved since I started using this product. Very smooth operation without jerky video. Especially smooth shots when using the controls on the handle.
