Very Satisfied July 3, 2009 I just received this printer yesterday. So far I am very well pleased. The print is very crisp and clear, laser quality. It prints pretty quickly and I do not notice any vibration at all. It is fairly quiet, feels very solid, and has a nice sleek appearance. I love that it glides easily on my desk when I need to move it, which helps in cleaning around it. It was quite easy to set up, and the installation went very smoothly. The printer does come with a manual, though it is not extremely thorough. Each time you print something, a diagram pops up on your computer screen, indicating how much ink is left, which I find extremely helpful. There is also a cancel button right on the printer, though I have not used this feature yet. I have not printed any photos, so I cannot attest to how it does with that. This is a vast improvement over my other HP's. While I was very satisfied with my previous HP printers, the quality, functionality, and ease of use on this printer surpasses the previous two. The only down side I could think of so far is that there is no paper output tray, although that can be purchased separately. If you want a good quality inkjet that makes awesome print-outs, without all the bells and whistles of some of the more expensive models, and are on a limited budget, I would highly recommend this one.
Great Printer June 23, 2009 This printer is fast, easy to use, and you don't have to constantly change the cartridge.
I printed photos for my photo thesis with it. I love that I can print borderless photo. I have also printed all my wedding stationary on it with exceptional quality. I'm surprised by how many things I've printed that would usually use up a lot of ink, but I've only had to change the cartridge once since I bought it in September.
There are only two cons that I've run ito:
-Can be fickle about smaller paper sizes. It doesn't like to print 4x6 cards in the regular paper tray. Must be hand fed through the photo/envelope slot.
-Colors are too saturated and dark when printing photos (not so much on regular paper). You have to compensate for this. How it looks on the computer screen and how it looks on paper will be very different. This is typical for most consumer printers though.
With those issues aside, I would recommend this printer to those who want great quality printing without the hassle. Great for college students.
Terribly engineered toner cartridge install June 19, 2009 Everytime I replace the ink cartridges I have issues...the printer doesn't recognize the new toner...the documents sent to the printer just hang in the spool, I don't get any error codes (on Mac)...this is a poorly engineered piece of %^$%^%*!
Good printer, faulty drivers June 9, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would have given this printer 5 stars, but it loses two because of problems relating to multiple instances of HPBOID.EXE and HPBPRO.EXE processes running long after a print job is finished. Firefox kept crashing for some reason, so I opened my task manager to check its memory consumption in the processes list, only to find at least 80-100 HP-related processes running, each taking up about 2500k of memory! WTF? So I did a search and found several other forums/threads describing the problem (and HP's apparent unwillingness to address it with a patch).
Several other models have similar issues. I couldn't find an easy fix from HP except to open up services.msc and disable HP Status Server, which is asking way too much of everyday consumers in my opinion. One site did state there was a software update, but if the services aren't needed to print, I think I'll skip the task of hunting for it (I didn't find them and I've been reading about this for at least 30 minutes).
All in all, though, it's a good printer and I'm happy with it. Just get the most recent driver from HP's site instead of using the disc installation and you should be fine. I'd monitor my processes for a while after getting it up and running, just in case.

The HP 6940 has speed, quality and the ink cartridge last longer than other printers.
