Great sansa player August 21, 2010 Bonnie Sue Uditsky (Havertown, Pa USA) I have hadmy sansa for a few years and now I bought my husband one. It is reliable, easy to use and sound is great!
Functional but occasionally frustrating August 5, 2010 David Reid (Earth) This was the first mp3 player I bought and I have had it for over two and a half years now. One of the reasons for purchasing it was the micro SD expansion slot so I could expand the memory. However, the 4GB memory has proved enough for me. It enables me to have a wide selection of my favorite songs which I occasionally add to or subtract from. The battery life is excellent. I often use the player for voice recordings and while the quality is not brilliant this is a useful function.
My major complaint is the action of the scrolling wheel and central button. I find the scrolling wheel doesn't work well. Sometimes the volume goes up when I am trying to turn it down or it scrolls down when it should be scrolling up. Even worse on several occasions I have lost recordings I have made because the action of the buttons haven't worked properly and deleted the recording instead of saving it. Another problem is the display of song titles. Many of the songs in my collection have Chinese-language titles. The Chinese characters often don't display properly unless I set the language to Chinese.
While I haven't bought something to replace it yet, when I next purchase an mp3 player I will pay much closer attention to the buttons and how smoothly they operate.
A Quality Media Player for the $ July 22, 2010 Ernesto Rivera Pros:
1. Extremely durable - I accidentally put mine through the wash @ the laundromat triple washer yesterday. took it apart (front, back, battery, MB/LCD, and uSD card) and put it on my cable box overnight to dry. Put it together a little while ago, works fine!!! Even still has a half-full battery!
2. Bright lcd (still) - easy to read even in bright sun.
3. Long battery life - better than my old iPod Mini.
4. Works well with Kubuntu 10.04 w/Rhythmbox. Also worked fine w/Win XP Pro WMP 10.
5. Better sound quality than my iPod.
6. Voice recorder/FM Radio
Cons:
1. Only takes up to a 2GB std uSD card (non-HD).
2. Small buttons/touchy controls. The buttons are close to the wheel, so if you're not careful, you can move the wheel when you go to push the buttons, getting unexpected results (Go to select "albums" and get "artists" instead, etc.).
Other thoughts: I've owned the unit about 2 years. The front panel of the unit is actually separate from the lcd screen. It's fairly thick, so as long as nothing hits it too hard, the lcd screen should be ok. There was a review I read in which the writer complained of the lack of durability of the lcd screen. She said she bought 2 of these media players, and that shortly after giving them to her kid(s), the lcd screens "broke" after "normal use". Yeah right...
SanDisk Sansa e260 4 GB July 19, 2010 Lara Ash™ (NC) I've had this Mp3 player for about 4 years I think. No major complaints because it still functions same as the day I received it. There have been two times when all my songs got deleted for unknown reasons. Also sometimes it loses complete function and I have to unscrew the back off and take the battery out then put it back in, goes back to working like nothing ever happened lol. Other than that it is good. I have about 50 songs on it now, few videos.
I use it every night because I have to have music playing while I sleep. So that's about 8 hours of running it straight and from a full charge only drains half the battery bar. Every day I have to charge it, so no biggie.
Wow I just noticed I actually paid the retail price of 210$. Now you can get it for 40bucks. I got burned lol but I purchased it years ago, but wow what a difference in the price since then. It's actually only worth the price that it's listed for now instead of what I paid. Good grief lol.
Great MP3 Player July 10, 2010 James Webb This mp3 player is better than any mp3 player I've ever had or any of my friends have ever had (yes, even better than the iPod Nano). But, consequently, I left it in the car for a few hours when it was over 100 degrees and the screen cracked and turned white. I ordered a Creative Zen X-Fi and hope it will be as good as the Sansa E260.
