  • Vivid color, bold text: Four dye-based inks plus a pigment-based black ink deliver superb photos and laser-quality text.
  • Enhance Your Digital Photos: Easy-PhotoPrint 3.5 software makes it simple to enhance and print amazing-looking digital photos through your computer.
  • Smart software, better results: Easy-WebPrint software gives Windows users the tools to properly print Web Pages in full color and without trimming off the right-hand margin.
1. Resolution may vary based on printer driver setting. Color ink droplets can be placed with a horizontal pitch of 1/9600 inch at minimum.
2. Based on accelerated testing by Canon in dark storage under controlled temperature, humidity and gas conditions, simulating storage in an album with plastic sleeves. Canon cannot guarantee the longevity of prints; results may vary depending on printed image, drying time, display/storage conditions and environmental factors.
Note: Page per Minute (PPM) print speeds are based on the highest speed printer driver mode using black and white and color text patterns. Photo print speeds are based on the standard mode driver setting using photo test pattern(s) and select Canon Photo Paper. Print speed measured as soon as first page begins to feed into printer and will vary depending on system configuration, interface, software, document complexity, print mode, types of paper used and page coverage.

1 out of 5 stars Piece of carp   November 24, 2009

It broke after 2 weeks of use.Canon recalled the item and replaced it with the awesome i4600.

1 out of 5 stars One of the worst pieces of technology I have ever owned   September 13, 2009
Jeff S. Welcher (Rochester, NY USA)
Coming off a Canon S600 that I owned for nearly 7 years, I stuck with a brand that I have trusted for some time. I was super-happy with the 'workhorse' quality of my old inkjet and was looking for a suitable replacement.

Well my experience with the Canon Pixma IP4300 has been simply terrible. After doing a lot of research I was looking forward to another long-running printer but this unit only functioned properly for the first 6 months or so. The problem seems to lie with the tiny computer chips that are attached to each and every ink cartridge. Canon obviously was not happy with customers using generic ink and this was their attempt to generate more revenue.

THE INK COMPUTER CHIP SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. Essentially the printer tries to read the chips on FIVE ink cartridges prior to each print job, and if it doesn't read one of them as genuine Canon your printer will not function. I had problems with both generic and non-generic ink, experiencing multiple instances where I needed to print something important, could visually see the ink in the cartridges and despite endless tricks and attempted work-arounds, could not get the printer even to start on a text-only print job.

Major flaws:

Printer will not function AT ALL without 5 ink cartridges loaded, even if you want to just print in black and white. This is anti-consumer and silly at the same time - it encourages you to leave empty cartridges (and their all-important chip) in the machine if you do not have replacements on-hand.

Ink needs to be loaded and reloaded if the printer cannot read the chip properly...endlessly frustrating.

Ink is expensive and even with moderate use, evaporates at a rapid rate.

Too many minor flaws to list...Google other reviews regarding the computer chip issue and buyer beware!!!

2 out of 5 stars Can't print text with black only   July 13, 2009
W. Brown (Xiamen, China)
It's a nice printer--until it thinks a cartridge is low. The magenta is half-full but it says its empty. I only want to print black and white, not color, but it won't allow me to print b/2 until I replace the magenta (in other printers, you can choose to use the black and white or the color).

It does a great job of printing, but pretty expensive upkeep if I have to keep replacing color cartridges so I can print black and white text.

1 out of 5 stars printer has major ink issues   June 21, 2009
S. Furlong (Savannah, GA USA)
The printer worked perfectly until I replaced the ink. I used the canon brand made for this printer but apparently it doesn't read the chip well in a couple of new cartridges. It take me a good 10 minutes of removing and reinserting the cartridge before I can print anything. The light will be on but it says "ink tank error" and when I lift the top, it's off. I take it out and put it back and the light is on. I try to print and it says error and the light is off.

I will never buy a canon again after this.

1 out of 5 stars NOT built to last   September 9, 2008
Massage Therapist (Boone, NC United States)
Print quality is fine, but the printer died within one year of use. It wasn't over-used. It's just not built to last.
