Product Description Shooting and sharing video is easy with the DCR-DVD610 Handycam(R) camcorder. Compose your shots on the 2.7" widescreen (16:9) touch panel LCD display, then close in on the action using the powerful 40x optical/2000x digital zoom. Gain even more control over your images with Super Steady Shot image stabilization, as well as Super NightShot(R) Plus technology for excellent quality in low light. With Hybrid recording technology, you can capture it all directly to a DVD or removable Memory Stick(R) Duo or Memory Stick(R) PRO Duo media. 1/8" Advanced HAD(TM) (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD with 340K effective pixels provides stunning detail and clarity with exceptional video, up to 500 lines of horizontal resolution and still image performance. The optical zoom helps to bring the action close up from far away. In addition, Digital Zoom Interpolation means that extreme digital zooming is clearer, with less distortion than previous types of digital zoom. Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lenses are designed specifically for compact camcorders, and utilize precision ground optics to maintain the sharpness and contrast found with larger lenses. With the Quick On feature, the touch of a single button places that camcorder in and out of Sleep mode. just the right size June 8, 2009 Just got this, great size, lightweight. Have to figure out all the nuances etc. still learning.
Is this a sony? May 24, 2009 Sony had been making good products. got DVD-DCR100 as gift to a relative. bought DCR300 for myself. after 4 years, the lense cover won't open. bought DCR610. after 3 months, i consider it as a piece of junk: 1. no flash light. very difficult to take pictures outdoor with bright sun. 2. highest resolution at 720x480,,, <1MB (0.4MB!!!). pictures on 19" computer screen show grains of rock-size. it is my fault that i did not do more research before buying it. But i never would thought someone is still making cameras with this kind of resolution. 3. after 20 some years of nice sony experience, it costs ~$300 to blow it all out. have to shop for one for next week's trip to disney world. will look for a hi-definition one to avoid this kind of mistake of fine-print. but WOULD never look into a sony again.
SONY DCR-DVDHANDYCAM May 5, 2009 I am very satisfied with this camcorder. I found it easy to use, by just trying out different things. The booklet was a little hard to grasp,I had to read it a few times before I got how to do certain things. The only thing I was not to crazy about was the location of the zoom control. I found myself accidently using the zoom while holding the camera. All in all I would recommend this product to anyone needing a camcorder.
Excellent condition for being used but....... March 20, 2009 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just received my camera today and I was excited when I opened up the box to see that the camera was in excellent condtion and almost looks brand new! I checked to make sure everything was in the box and grabbed the battery to try and charge it but noticed that they DID NOT put the a/c adaptor in the box!!! I was so upset looking through the box to see if had overlooked it and noticed that they forget to put the remote in there too!! I understand that I did buy this camera used BUT if they did not have all the pieces that belonged to the camera, it should have been notated before I purchased it. Other than that, the camera looks awesome!
Nice camera but not completely Mac compatible.... March 17, 2009 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love the camera. I've had it almost a year and enjoy the ease of use it provides. However, Sony isn't completely truthful when advertising the camcorder as Mac compatible. The CD is only for Windows--no Mac software is provided. While the enclosed USB cable does work to transfer .jpg files from the memory stick, it does nothing for transferring the movie files. After almost a year of using a DVD player hooked to my Miglia TV Max+ to feed the video into Quick Time and re-record my movies, I found a program named Handbrake that will export the movies directly from the camcorder to my Mac.
