Product Description As a new updated model, the PHOTTIX® CLEON II is a hybrid (wired and wireless) shutter release for cameras. The pack for the PHOTTIX® CLEON II consists of a small remote control (transmitter), receiver and either one of the optional cables depending on the model of camera to be controlled. When used wireless, the transmitter and receiver can be pared by any one of 16,000,000 channels (Smart Code) within the working distance of 100 meters (320ft). The PHOTTIX® CLEON II supports the following functions: single shot mode, 2 seconds delay, continuous, as well as bulb mode for long exposures. The PHOTTIX® CLEON II can be used with a wide variety of cameras just plug in a suitable cable to the receiver. Complete list of connecting cables available is provided below. The transmitter has a single button to activate the cameras shutter, a mode switch and a retractable antenna. The receiver can be attached to the hot shoe of the camera (facing forwards or backwards), or simply be placed alongside. Like the transmitter, the receiver has a shutter release button. The remotes shutter release button functions similarly to that of the cameras: a half press initiates autofocus on the camera and a complete press of the button takes a snap. The function selector allows selecting between three different modes: S/B - single exposures or bulb mode, 2S - single exposures with a 2 second delay, and Continious - multiple exposures Moving the receiver mode switch to Hold allows it to be used for bulb-mode (long exposures) without having to hold the shutter button pressed all the time. When using the receiver as a wired remote, there is no need to power it on.

unreliable performance August 24, 2010 Jim Taylor While this remote's rf link seems to work properly, it fails to trigger the shutter consistently. Here's my analysis.
There are two led lights on the front end of the remote's receiver, which connects to the camera. One to let you know that it's powered, the other to signal that it's receiving a signal from the transmitter. I pushed the remote RF transmitter button. the "receive signal" led on the receiver turns green, but the camera shutter doesn't trigger. The problem appears to be a bad connection between the remote receiver and the camera. I planned to remove this as an issue by replacing the detachable cable, which connects the remote receiver to the camera. The easiest to do this to purchase a wired remote, which has the correct camera connector on one end, cut off the switch and replacing it with a 2.5 mm connector, which is compatible with the remote.
The reviews of of the wired remote are generally poor, however, which make me think that the problem is more likely in the connector canon specified for its shutter remote.
exellent product August 2, 2010 jadegal (ca) really like this one..so versatile...bought it for self portrait but haven't used it yet...tested it out a bit, really like how u can use it wired or wireless. It also auto focuses...but you have to set your camera setting to either "one shot" or AI FOCUS...can't be in "AI SERVO", you won't hear the beep that tells you things are in focus...
GREAT radio remote August 1, 2010 Lucidious Rage (Ohio) This is a great radio remote! I am a bit shocked though, I just ordered, paid for, and received mine about a week ago for $36! Now today I came on here to write a review about it, because it is a great product, and see that the cheapest you can get it for now is over $100, plus $30 in shipping. I don't know that it is worth that much, in fact I would say wait until it goes back on sale. Not sure why it jumped so much. But if you do manage to get it for under, say $50 then you are getting yourself a great deal. It works exactly like it should, gets great range, etc.
My only complaint would be that it doesn't really fit snuggly in the port on my Canon 40D... BUT... at the same time, there is a nice rubber cover that normally covers the port, which when this is plugged in, IS held in nicely with the rubber part that is on the camera in it's natural position.
Over all, would I buy again? Yes absolutely for the price I paid ($36 and free shipping)... Under $50 total, very likely, over that,... I might hold off a bit or find something comparable.
If it does drop back down below $50, then buy with confidence, your getting a good product!
Oh, 1 more thing, DON'T THROW AWAY THE BOX... all of the instructions for the unit are printed on the side of the box, it would be a good idea to keep this around if you ever need to reference it in the future, ie to re-sync the remote to the receiver.
OH! that reminds me... one more cool thing about this product, (and 1 reason I'm frustrated the price went up so high) is that you can actually configure it to trigger multiple devices from 1 remote. So, imagine, with 1 click, you could have 3 cameras set up at different locations, or flash, etc, and with 1 click, snap! 3 seperate shots. Nice!
Works great, costs less July 7, 2010 Michael B. Spotts (San Diego, CA) Mine has been a big help, especially for self-portraits while backpacking (I like to get far away, in the landscape).
Works as advertised, batteries seem to last long. No complaints.
Funky Gadget July 7, 2010 F. Tan (Savannah, GA) This is a really good quality little remote.
I only bought it after a lot of research and finally decided that this one looked the LEAST cheap and had a fairly strong following.
Although it is made in China, when I finally got around to messing with it, it didn't FEEL like how you would expect something "Made in China" to feel.
It has a fast response time and does what it's supposed to do.
The only problem i have it that the receiving end that attaches to the camera, is a bit bulky and big.
Good purchase :)
