Can`t Wait for this....At Last.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Before people get precious about reviewing before hearing I am familiar with most of the songs on this c.d.as I had the vinyl original.. It`s another great forgotten Duffy gem,so many, so many,alas... Can`t wait to hear In This Twilight again, love that song... As Oscar said "youth is wasted on the young"but there have been many beautiful moments and this album is one such..................

I get the distinct impression that old Tin-Tin is a bit of a prat but that doesn't stop this being one of the best album's I've ever bought. The melodies aren't at all bad- come to think of it. I bought it as a whim and wasn't disappointed. Unfortunately, although the talent is definitely there, he can't be called a great because the body of work just doesn't seem to be there or the consistency for you to be elevated to the next level. Having said this, as a one off little gem it shines with the best of them
The Ups and Downs - by Kusee. P February 19, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
An outstanding album if very much of its time. The tunes are great throughout but what really set this album apart is its cracking musicianship and '80s production. Duffy's vocalising is Bowieesque but far from overstated. Guy Pratt's slap-bass is very much to the fore throughout the album (as it should be) and the whole package is put together with great care for the overall sound. It may not quite have the subtlety and texture of 'Rio' but otherwise it's a must for any '80s fan. Unfortunately my copy got nicked in a break-in and I'm desperate to find another...!
